“The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit…
The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit…
The LORD will root out the wicked…”
The “net of evil men” symbolizes the entangling pursuit of riches, influence, and power—security built on self, not God. These nets appear strong until they collapse. The righteous, by contrast, have a root grounded in faith and daily obedience—not fleeting impulse. Their lives yield fruit through steadfast practice of wisdom, prayer, and right conduct. Their thoughts are right; their steps are aligned with divine truth, not deceit.
In Matthew 10, Jesus sends disciples into a world that will resist them. He calls them to depend on Yahweh’s provision and to speak with Kingdom authority. They are not to rely on worldly nets, but on the root of righteousness: obedience, discernment, and Spirit‑led speech.
