Ep. 44 — Persistence in Righteous Favor — Proverbs 18 & Matthew 17
Matthew 17
Proverbs 18:1, 5, 10, 20, 22 (KJV)
“Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom…
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked…
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth…
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
These verses highlight that alignment with Yahweh’s wisdom and uprightness brings safety and strength. Desire alone — when untethered from divine counsel — can separate a man from wisdom. True strength comes from habitual righteousness, not impulse. A man’s words shape his path; righteous speech bears fruit. Finding a wife is a good thing and a sign of Yahweh’s favor — but it is not a conclusion. Favor must be persisted in through obedience, prayer, humility, and love. Persisting also means praying for others at the times you pray for yourself — expanding your alignment beyond self‑concern to Kingdom concern.
In Matthew 17, Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James, and John. This moment reveals divine life intersecting mortal obedience — a demonstration that Kingdom reality is discovered in obedience, not assumption. The disciples would have to walk forward in the life they saw, not merely recollect the experience.
