Proverbs 27:8 (KJV)

“As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.”

A bird away from its nest is unstable. Likewise, a person detached from God’s place — His order, His Word, His wisdom — is unstable. In Matthew 26, we see two very different responses to pressure and revelation.

Judas wanders into betrayal. His kiss is a counterfeit of friendship — deceptive, not restorative. Proverbs 27:6 (KJV) says,

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”

Peter wanders too — denying and broken — but returns through faithful confrontation and grace. His restoration shows that wandering can end in alignment, not defeat.

This contrast teaches that a wandering heart without truth falls, but a wandering heart that returns with humility and obedience is established.
