In Matthew chapter 28, we see a living pattern of worship revealed at the resurrection. The women — including Mary Magdalene — bowed before Yeshua. They did not worship Him as the only true God in abstraction, but they honored Him as the Son of God, obeyed the revelation given, and responded faithfully. At the cross, mockers say, “If You are the Son of God…” — not God in the flesh. Even in scorn, they affirm His identity as Son. Darkness covers the land from the sixth to ninth hour, signifying a cosmic acknowledgment of truth rejected. The veil of the temple is torn — a symbol that access to truth is now open. A centurion declares, “Truly this was the Son of God,” revealing that even the hardened recognize truth when confronted by it.
Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple, takes the body and lays it in a new tomb. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary watch over the sepulcher. The chief priests and Pharisees, fearing the disciples might steal the body and claim resurrection, seal the tomb and set a guard — an ironic fear of the very truth they sought to suppress.
Proverbs 29 — Judgment, Vision & Obedience
Proverbs 29 teaches:
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice…”
Righteous leadership brings stability; unrighteous rule brings mourning.
“The king by judgment establisheth the land.”
Judgment = discernment between good and evil. Without it, society falters.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Vision rooted in obedience and truth sustains life; without it, collapse.
“He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool…”
Following the heart detached from truth is folly. Scripture calls us to deny the flesh and walk in wisdom.
